Ela Beach Hotel

Resortium Project – Coral Seas Hotels, Papua New Guinea
In January 2015 we were approached by Thomson Adsett Architects and asked if we would be interested to be involved in the supply of furniture, fixtures & equipment (FF&E) for the renovation of a hotel in Papua New Guinea, for Coral Seas Hotels Group. A hotel group that operates the largest chain of hotels in Papua New Guinea. We were of course delighted to be given this opportunity. Initially I met with Thomson Adsett’s Regional Director for Cairns and the South Pacific – Tim Bentley – and gave him a tour of our suppliers’ Brisbane based factories, where we would manufacture the loose furniture, case-goods and soft furnishings required for the project. He was pleased with what he saw – in his words – “I would be more than happy to bring my client through your factories”.
And so that is how I met Glen Murphy, General Manager of Coral Seas Hotels, who did a subsequent tour of the factories’ facilities a short while later. Happily we met their criteria for quality and compliance with Australian standards with 3 year warranties against manufacturing defects on a replacement basis in Papua New Guinea. They also liked the idea that we were ‘close to home’ so inspections were convenient with the added benefit of short lead times for additional orders and no minimum quantities required.

Over the course of the following 12 months we supplied all the loose furniture, case-goods, upholstered furniture, soft furnishings, table lamps, artwork and accessories for 75 rooms at Ela Beach Hotel.

This was achieved with staggered deliveries to Port Moresby over this period, to meet our client’s refurbishment schedule.

I am pleased to say that the end result was a quality outcome delivering the project on time and on budget to a satisfied client.

We are looking forward to working again with both Thomson Adsett and Coral Seas Hotels on their future projects.
