Project: Jackson’s Bar & Restaurant, Gateway Hotel, Papua New Guinea

In May 2015 we were contacted by Cullen Feng Architects in Sydney.  They had been appointed by Coral Seas Hotels to carry out the design and refurbishment of Jackson’s Bar and Gaming Restaurant at the Gateway Hotel, Port Moresby.

Having successfully supplied the loose furniture for the 75 room refurbishment at Ela Beach Hotel – another hotel in the Coral Seas chain – we were recommended for the supply of the loose furniture for the Gateway Bar & Restaurant.

It has been a real pleasure working with Jon Cullen and his team of interior designers /architects.  Their specifications were always very precise and easy to understand which helped us with both the manufacturing of custom made furniture and sourcing the appropriate ready made furniture required for the project.

Most of the ready made furniture was supplied from Italy through our local wholesalers, and the custom made furniture manufactured at our supplier’s factory in Brisbane.

We also looked at various fabric options and managed the budget by using some of the more competitively priced commercial range of fabric from Warwick Fabrics, which has proved to be very appropriate and stylish, and has not compromised the design intent.

The lounge chairs and banquette seating were manufactured at our supplier’s factory in Brisbane and again worked well with the design concept.

Cullen Feng’s choice of dining chairs came from the Italian SCAB DESIGN which were combined with bespoke timber dining tables.

STUA ONDA Bar Stools from Spain were used for the outdoor viewing deck, and combined with steel powder coated High Bar Tables.

Custom made Kwila timber dining tables and contemporary Italian design chairs from SCAB DESIGN were used for the al fresco dining area on the outdoor dining deck.

The project was successfully completed at the end of February 2016.
